A CLEANING professional has revealed her method for giving your washing machine a deep clean.
She says it can be done in three easy steps using cheap kitchen cupboard items.
Neat Caroline (@neat.caroline) advocates "regular cleaning to keep your machine running nice and smooth."
She is an "organizing and cleaning expert" from New York with a huge TikTok following of over 225,000 and another 3.8 million likes.
The trusty washing machine was the focus of her attention in this post.
"Here's how to deep clean your washing machine," she said and went through her method.
"Pour two cups of vinegar into the detergent dispenser," she explained, and "run it on a hot cycle."
Once that cycle was up, she added the next item from her list of ingredients.
"Add half a cup of baking soda directly to the drum and run it on the same hot cycle."
Once that was finished, it should smell fresh and clean, said Caroline.
Next up, it was time to employ some elbow grease.
"Spray inside the drum with some vinegar and wipe down the drum with a microfibre cleaning cloth," she wrote, and "don't forget the back.
"Wipe the gasket with hot soapy water and a microfibre cleaning cloth."
It was the turn of the machine door next, which was given a "good rinse of the inside and the outside."
A CLEANING professional has revealed her method for giving your washing machine a deep clean. Even better, it can be done in three easy steps using cheap kitchen cupboard items.
She followed this by pulling out the detergent dispenser, which she rinsed under soapy water.
Once this was wiped dry with a clean cloth, she got stuck into the cavity itself, wiping away any "mildew and mold formation."
This should be a regular part of your household routine she said.
"Try and do this once a month. Soap scum buildup leads to mold and mildew forming and creating unpleasant odors and also lead to a less efficient machine," she warned.
Commenters were grateful for the tip.
"Thanks for sharing this information. I do clean my machine but I was only putting vinegar in the soap dispenser," said this viewer.
"I needed this," wrote another.
Finally, it was a timely reminder for one more fan: "I was just thinking I need to do this today. Thank you so much," they said.
